PHILOG # 2

My take on education in today’s world I feel it short changes our students in many ways. Money is constantly being taken away yet teachers are persistently being asked to do more and more with less. Our children are the future; shouldn’t we be putting more resources in place for them to succeed? We need to stop spending so much of our money bailing other countries out of their problems. How are our children expected to compete in an ever evolving and increasingly competitive global market? I know that last comment sounds very businesslike and unemotional in regards to dealing with our children but if we look at running a successful business, don’t we look into all available resources to put in that business to make it top notch? Shouldn’t we take that approach with the education of our youth? I am of the belief that all children are deserving of a high quality education at no cost to them. I want to offer all of my students the highest quality education that I am capable of providing. As a teacher it is my duty to show them and guide them to what they all have the ability of accomplishing through hard work and perseverance but this cannot be accomplished without the proper resources.

  1. We sure think alike on the education issue. i so hate that all our money goes to foreign countries. I found that Lowes and Wal-Mart does not pay gross receipt taxes to this state. They do pay them in the other states. If we taxed them it would bring in about 260 million in revenue that could be used in education. There would be books for the students and money to pay the teachers. The union tried to get them to pass the tax but they wouldnt.

  2. I totally agree with you. If we are to maintain our number one position as the global hegemon we need to respect education. They are acually cutting teachers in a number of states. We will not be able to compete with China if we do not continue to educate the next generation in math and science which will lead to technical innovation
On a final note a lot of people do not look at the job description of the teacher. It is tremendous it is not time to cut teachers salaries when teacher sare underpaid. Our governemnt should end imperialism and bring remove our troops in south kore and in Japan let them fight their own battles. then we can divert the funds into education and technological infrastructure we really need e.g high speed rail e.g a bussing or train system in ABQ

  3. As a teacher, we will all be incensed by the lack of resources or funding that we are given. We will all wish education was higher on the priority list. We will work under the pressure to perform more with less. Most of these factors are somewhat out of our control. However, what IS under your direct control as a teacher? I love the last sentence and the word "GUIDE". Even without proper resources, how can you, with just your person, creativity, and intellect, GUIDE your students to find success? What can you do in your own classroom to foster success for individual students?
